Explanation

The Show

Zealot Clef has been the name of Donor & F*A Donor Jess*‘s musical outlet for years. Zealot Clef played blues-inspired rock rather than the goth that the font used in this design would seem to indicate. The particular incarnation of Zealot Clef for which this shirt was created was for a lineup that also included Donor Tony*, almost-donor Bailey, and non-donor Chuck.

That lineup ultimately played one show due to conflicting schedules. I was at that show and had a good time. The songs were performed with gusto. Chuck performed a drum solo that brought the house down.

I strolled backstage at the venue and saw how small and boring that backstage can be. I would not feel comfortable leaving my stuff back there considering how quickly that room could be unloaded.

I also remember non-donor Meghan drinking to excess and then puking on non-donor Colette. That was so not cool of Meghan. “Rock n’ roll” is only an excuse when the only person that is being hurt is oneself. Fortunately, Jess gave Colette a free Zealot Clef shirt as well.

Chuck

The concert was the only time that I had ever met Chuck. He drummed with the same joy that he brought to conversation. I wish that I had more opportunities to converse with him.

In Praise Of Vinyl

This shirts remains the only shirt throughout the collection that features vinyl printing. So far, I have no complaints about the quality of vinyl on this shirt. I have worn and had this shirt washed by a machine numerous times, and the design still sticks and is as colorful as it was for the show.

It is my hope that more people who commission shirts give vinyl a chance. Vinyl is a nice change of pace and the costs should go down with bulk.

I know of no Zealot Clef recordings that have been pressed into a phonograph record. Actually, I do not know of any recordings being made available to the public.
