takes the stairs at work everyday. Doing so saves him time compared to riding the elevator. Getting in some exercise at work is a bonus, however, he also enjoys getting far more exercise through other means outside of work.
One day, there was a table set up on the main floor of the building where he works offering this shirt in exchange for a pledge to climb at least two flights of stairs rather than taking the elevator. He decided to provide the information so that he could later pass the shirt unto me.
I approach the decision between taking the stairs and the elevator within the context of the building. Some places have popular or slow elevators where it makes more sense to take the stairs. Therefore, I may or may not have been able to make the same pledge.
I find the design on the front of this shirt to be amusing. To elevate of such a mundane task as walking up a flight of stairs to the central theme of a shirt is conceptually enjoyable. Applying the same design vocabulary of federal pedestrian signage makes the idea easily understandable. Put together, the clear design expresses a boring idea in a way that feels novel.
The back of the shirt states “STAIR TEAM” in one font and “Healthy Steps” in another. The name of the team may or may not be Healthy Steps. Seeing that this shirt does not provide any sponsor identity, a definitive answer is likely to remain elusive. I, for one, would rather keep my staircase activities unorganized and individual.
