Explanation

Black Friday Burner

Pioneer Corporation ⇒ is a Japanese consumer electronics manufacturer that produces audio devices for the home and car, global positioning system receivers, disc jockey equipment, and optical media readers. The corporation used to make televisions. The wordmarks and logo featured on this shirt are of the original style which has since changed.

The only item that I ever owned made by Pioneer was a 1-sided DVD burner. I obtained the optical drive during the one and only time that I will ever go out on Black Friday, the day after American Thanksgiving ⇒, on sale for $30. The burner never failed during my time of ownership. I ended up giving the computer that had that burner within it to someone else who has not informed me as to the drive’s current status.

Tommy

Tom Hoover is a retired funny car ⇒ driver who raced from the 1960s through the 1990s within both the National Hot Rod Association ⇒ (“NHRA”) and the American Hot Rod Association ⇒ (“AHRA”). Hoover was sponsored by Pioneer during the 1990s. He is supposed to be a 5 time NHRA champion ⇒ and 2 time AHRA champ ⇒ as well, but I have yet to find authoritative proof.

Hoover’s car may or may not have looked like the car featured on the back design. I have found multiple styles of Pioneer livery, but so far have not been able to find one that has the blue, pink and black color scheme. Hoover earned the moniker “Showtime” after racing in a car that had what is considered an iconic paint job ⇒ amongst funny car racing enthusiasts previous to Pioneer sponsorship.

Finding information about the funny car driver Tom Hoover is complicated by the fact that there was an engineer at Chrysler that was part of the team that developed the Hemi engine with the same name ⇒.

End Of Conversation

“Power. Performance. Pioneer. End of Conversation.” is printed on the bottom of the shirt. When Donor Tony* donated the shirt to me, I was initially hesitant to accept mainly because of my disagreement with the End of Conversation line. I even kept this shirt out of rotation for a period of time. One random day, however, I finally got over my disagreement with the implied content because the argument can be dismissed out of hand.

Three nouns alone do not even form a sentence much less a conversation. A conversation requires at least two communicators that grant each other the respect to listen as well as speak. Preemptively restricting communication is a power maneuver. As such, speaking truth to power is an essential reaction.

IF the conversation is about consumer electronics I might even have something to say. Maybe nothing insightful, but I doubt that I would embarrass myself. I have experience with and enjoy many elaborations of the subject.

Even though I object to the principle of not being included in the conversation, I admit that I do not know much about funny car racing. I had to conduct some research to find the information about Hoover. Nonetheless, I reserve the right to not engage in conversation as strongly as I demand a seat at the table.
