I feel that this page is kind of like how life can be like sometimes. Sometimes there is an idea in mind that I either want to find or see again. Then I end up somewhere completely different than where I wanted to be. Unless the reader is an error page aficionado, this page is likely not where really wish to be. Accept my apologies. I would hope that the reader would extend the same courtesy to me. At least the reader can have hope unlike those who have ever been in a 410.

There is no shirt in the picture to further the idea that something is missing. I had considered waiting around until the day that I happen upon someone donating me a free "404 shirt" of some sort, but then I realized how terrible of an idea that would be in practice. The essence of a 404 is that what you really want is mot where you want it. Therefore, I have come to terms with never getting such a shirt for free.

A 404 error is meant to convey the uncertainty of location. The proper number for an error that is known to be gone is a 410.

As with any creator, Berners-Lee took the opportunity to determine the nomenclature of his creation. The European Organization for Nuclear Research, more commonly known by its acronym CERN, was inspiration for the numbers. Room 404 does not exist at CERN.
